Testing Foreign Citizens in Russian



The University administers state testing in Russian of foreign citizens wishing to receive Russian citizenship.

Before taking a test the applicants shall fill in the attached registration card and send it to the University. On the day of the test an applicant shall fill in an application form, effect payment and proceed to taking a test. An applicant shall have a proper ID (passport). To take a test in Russian an applicant shall:

  1. Have original ID (passport and its translation, migration card, proof of registration); a pen.
  2. Effect payment for testing at the University’s cashier – 5330 Rubles.


Before the test an examiner shall give an applicant instructions regarding a test procedure, time for taking the test and rules for filling in the check list which is given to an applicant along with test questions.


Check lists (matrixes) are filled in by a pen. All clarification questions regarding test procedure can be raised only before the test. An applicant is not allowed to use dictionaries and reference materials as well as speak with other applicants. When the time for each sub-test expires an applicant shall return all the materials and submit check lists to the examiner.


The test consists of five parts – sub-tests:


  1. Reading
  2. Writing
  3. Lexics. Grammar
  4. Listening comprehension
  5. Oral speech


Upon successful completion of a test an applicant is given State certificate.
