Historical background:
Institute of Management and Information Technologies has been training specialists for railway transport for over one hundred years. Institute was established in the year 2000 as a result of a merger of two University units: “Traffic Management” Department and “International Institute of Informatics and Social Systems Management” which in its turn had been formed on the basis on Department of Automatics and Computer Engineering”. Institute provides training in the field of traffic organization and management, transport logistics, freight and commercial traffic, advanced computer technologies. The Institute graduates work in various transport sectors, deal with technological, managerial, and economic issues, work out information systems and their software.

The field of professional activities of the graduates is industrial software production for various information and computing systems.
Analytical activities: collection and analysis of the client’s requirements to software; formalization of subject area of the software project based on terms of reference and express-survey; analysis, simulation and management of transport processes and systems based on advanced information technologies.
Project activities: participation in designing components of the software product in the volume sufficient for product development according to terms of reference; development of software components (encoding, tuning up, module and integrated testing).
Organizational and management activities: participation in preparing technical documentation (work schedules, instructions, plans, estimates, requests for materials, equipment, software) and reports as per approved forms, planning and coordination of works with a view to tuning up and supporting software products.
