Humanitarian institute of Moscow State University of Railway Engineering was established in 2002 on the basis of “Psychology and Social Management” department, “Service and Tourism” department and “Advertising” speciality. Institute trains specialists in the field of general and social psychology, sociology of management and political sociology, specialists in the field of advertising and public relations, specialists in the field of service and tourism, managers, state and municipal officials. The high level of education is warranted by state-of-art material and technical base. The academic staff consists of over 170 highly qualified specialists, more than half of them having academic degrees and titles. The executives and leading specialists of appropriate enterprises and organizations having extensive practical experience are invited to give classes.
Special attention is given to curricular practical training at specific work-sites which provide opportunities for temporary employment and a chance to come to know future profession.
Institute’s chairs together with the Division of information and technical support explore and introduce state-of-art information technologies in academic process. Two computer classes are organized for 30 seats each, ten lecture halls for 450 seats are fit with multimedia equipment, two language labs for 44 seats are organized for “Linguodidactics” chair. Throughout all five years of studies for all specialities and qualifications the continuous monitoring of students’ knowledge by modular rating system “RITM” is underway which allows to intensify development and introduction of new forms of organization and methods of education stimulating to the utmost active creative work both academic staff and students of Institute. The syllabi for all specialities and qualifications are worked out in accordance with state education standards of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. A moral building work with the students is underway at Institute aimed at increasing quality of education and orderly recreation activities.
“The Studenchesky Vestnik” monthly newspaper is published on the students’ initiative supported directly by the Director’s office. Its editorial board actively cooperates with the industry’s mass media publishing materials about Institute’s affairs in such newspapers as “Gudok”, “The Moskovsky Zheleznodorozhnik”, “The Transport Engineer”.
